New administrators make Coronado home

Principal Mike Piccininni

Originally from Miller Place, a small town on Long Island, New York, Mr. Piccininni attended State University of New York at Courtland majoring in Elementary Education.  He obtained his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership while teaching fifth grade.  He served as a Dean of Students at Bob Miller Middle School for a year and a half before becoming the Assistant Principal at Mike O’Callaghan Middle School.  His first principal assignment was at Global Community High School before becoming a Principal at West Preparatory School for Academic Excellence.

The school has opened its arms to Mr. Piccininni who has embraced Coronado, and he is already loving the environment.  “I’m incredibly excited to empower our students.  Letting kids take control of their own Coronado experience is one of my goals here,” Mr. Piccininni said.

 

Assistant Principal Nicole Delgado

Mrs. Delgado, the Assistant Principal over activities, is originally from Reno, Nevada.  She graduated from Edward C. Reed High School before attending UNR where she majored in Secondary Education with emphasis on English.  She was an English teacher at Silverado for eight years before becoming a Dean of Students at West Preparatory School for Academic Excellence.

Mrs. Delgado was pleased to share that she is expecting a baby in February, and she said she really enjoys the student body.  “I love it here.  Everyone is so nice, welcoming and respectful.  It’s definitely a different world here at Coronado,” said Mrs. Delgado.

 

Assistant Principal Camille Knopp (The K is pronounced)

She grew up in Boulder City and graduated from Boulder City High School.  She taught English at Basic High School for three years, and opened Foothill High School where she taught English for seven years.  She earned her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership at UNLV.  She was a Dean of Students at Silverado before becoming an Assistant Principal over curriculum at Coronado.  Mrs. Knopp is very excited to be a part of the Cougar family.  “I enjoy working at Coronado because the students are happy to be here, and I can feel a good vibe from them,” Mrs. Knopp said.

 

Dean Anne Harper

She grew up in Carson City, Nevada.  Ms. Harper earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education and holds a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from UNLV.  She taught Social Studies at Eldorado, Chaparral, and Del Sol.  She served as the Athletic Director at Sunrise Mountain High School for four years before becoming a Dean of Students here at Coronado.

Ms. Harper is thrilled to be a part of the Coronado family.  “It is so fantastic to be working here.  I am definitely lucky to be at Coronado,” Ms. Harper said.
