The speech and debate team has been recognized for their ranking in the National Forensics League, and their admittance into the 200 Club this October.

To be eligible for the 200 Club, the group must earn at least 200 degrees (points), during the previous year at competitions.  Membership in this exclusive club puts the team in the top 5% of debate teams nationwide.

With Mrs. Johnson out on maternity leave, the students were not aware they had achieved this prestigious award.

“Winning at the local and national levels has always been of paramount importance to our team.  We are proud and honored to have received this award and look forward to achieving even greater success in the future,” senior Jordan Schuck, speech and debate team president, said.

With their new achievement, the forensics team has high hopes for the rest of the year and will continue to prepare to win titles.

“We have a great year ahead of us, and this honor is such an exciting surprise,” junior Kimberly Jarchow, varsity member, said.

Their next competition will take place on Saturday, Dec. 14, where they hope to add to their successful record.
