Raising Cane’s is moving closer to the Coronado campus. The franchise that started in 2005 is expanding outward into the state. When the company first started out they were going to have a location in Las Vegas and Henderson, but since they were a young company, the developers chose to go with a more widely known location.

“Going to Henderson was not a question of if, but when,” Joe Micatrotto, owner, said.

Now after eight years the restaurant will be located near St. Rose Hospital on St. Rose Parkway and Jeffreys Street, next to Tommy’s.

“I love Cane’s. I am so excited that they’re opening one near the school,” Nicole Brianas, junior, said.

Raising Cane’s restaurants is built on the loyalty that they have received from local high schools. For CCSD workers, Cane’s restaurants gives a special discount for their service in helping support high school students. They offer fundraising opportunities, school prizes, and sporting event giveaways, to all of their surrounding schools.

“We have had a long standing relationship with Coronado High School on many levels, and we are extremely excited to have a store within a couple of minutes of your school,” Joe Micatrotto, owner, said.

Many students were upset when the school stopped providing the Cane’s meal at lunch, but now when the restaurant opens in the spring of 2014, they will be able to enjoy it closer to home.
