In an ultimate battle of science knowledge, Coronado placed seventh and was awarded $300, which will go toward the school’s Science Bowl Fund.

The annual Nevada Science Bowl took place on February 1 at KLVX Studios and began at 8 a.m. The team, advised by Mr. Aberman, was made up of Mathew Thomas, Aaron Unger, Robert Fisch, Niko Manasewitsch all seniors, and Eric Lujan, the only junior on the team. Lujan served as the team’s captain.

The competition consisted of multiple choice and toss-up questions, which ranged in topic from biology to physics to geology, answered in a varsity quiz style.

Prior to the event, the team participated in an orientation on January 31, which involved sign-ups and various activities.
The winnings are expected to help science teachers purchase necessary equipment and materials.
