Coronado’s softball team dueled it out against Liberty on April 29, taking the victory, with a final score of 5-4.

During the bottom of the second inning, Jaiden Johnson, sophomore, was up to bat with all bases loaded. Johnson hit a single, giving her team two RBI’s ending the second inning with a score of 4-0, Coronado’s advantage.

The third inning consisted of one score for Coronado, a single hit by Katie Dawson, senior, putting the Cougars up 5-0.

At the top of the fourth, Liberty got on the scoreboard, scoring four runs, and almost passed up Coronado.

Due to strong winds, the ball’s changing direction made it a struggle to score for both teams.

In the end, Coronado came out on top, defeating Liberty with a final score of 5-4.

The softball team is currently in first in the Southeast League with a 6-1 statistic in league, and 15-13 overall after this game.

The next softball game will take place on Thursday, May 1, at Basic High School at 3:30 p.m.
