The scent of breaded chicken and Texas Toast filled the quad on Tuesday, April 29. Students lined up between caution tape and cones, chattering and clutching their $6. Cane’s had returned to campus.

Student Council sold Cane’s Chicken Fingers under the supervision of administration. They sold 150 boxes, 300 boxes total, at each lunch. A few new procedures were in place when selling. Customers were marked on their hands to ensure that each student was only allowed to purchase one box. Even after the supply ran out, there were still students lined up for more.

“[Cane’s] is delicious. It’s better than Wendy’s and the other normal fast food places. It’s such a long drive, so it’s really cool that it’s on campus again,” Jessica Eiman, sophomore, said.

Student Council hopes to sell Cane’s every Tuesday to raise money for next year’s activities.

“This is about creating a buffer of money for next year. We want to have some money to set us up for a successful year in 2015. Also, the money will start us up for next year’s beginning activities, such as the Welcome Back Assembly,” Mrs. Swenson, student council adviser, said.

After the success of the first week, Student Council has decided to sell 175 boxes during each lunch for subsequent weeks. Next year, they plan to order even more as long as the demand keeps up.
