Tiare Kiilani Giron passed away on Wednesday, July 23 after suffering from a heat stroke and dehydration while hiking.  She received a tremendous amount of support from concerned family and friends during her stay at the hospital, and there was a large turnout at her vigil at Cornerstone Park on Friday, July 25,  as so many came to pay tribute to this amazing  girl.

Tiare radiated positivity and optimism.  She lived more deeply and more fully than most in her short time with us.  Not a moment was wasted and her inner beauty has inspired so many to see the wonders in life and find the good that is offered to us with every breath.  Those touched by her kindness and sincerity remember her with a shining smile that could light up even the worst of days.

Not only was she an active member of numerous groups in the community, but she was also a member of our newspaper family.  I was blessed enough to meet Tiare my freshman year in Journalism I.  She never failed to make me smile and her knack for making everyone feel special was one of her most defining traits.  It was a joy to build our friendship over the years and I, like so many others, will miss her terribly.

Tiare’s  family and loved ones agree that she would want us to continue to spread love and kindness to all that we meet and live life in the truest and most honest way possible.

“Ti has touched so many people.  She was a kind, genuine, beautiful young lady.  She has inspired me to be a better person and to live life to the fullest.  Even though her life was short lived, she was able to impact so many people.  Ti’s life was priceless, invaluable and a rare treasure.  I am going to miss her so much, but this is not a goodbye, it’s a see you soon,”  Skylar Feldman said.

It is awful and heartbreaking to lose such a wonderful soul, but her legacy lives on through the lives she has touched and the indelible mark she has left in our hearts.  Gone too soon, but never forgotten.  We love you, Tiare.
