Cougars tackle Sundevils with big win

The varsity football team took over the field Friday night, beating the Eldorado Sundevils 40-6.

In the beginning of the first half, the Cougars got a fumble near the end zone. Bringing in the first points and making the score 6-0.

After a third and long, the Sundevils punted the ball to the Cougars. This led to a touchdown by Jordan Patterson, junior. After the extra point, the Cougars had a 13-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Starting off second quarter, Colfer missed the field goal. This led to a breakaway run by Eldorado who then scored a touchdown, making the score 13-6.

Travis Boman, junior, recovered the ball and ran it in for a touchdown. With the extra point the score was 20-6 Cougars

“[I want to] get 10 touchdowns and the first receiving goals,” Boman said.

The Sundevils fumbled the ball at the 37 yard line. The Cougars gained possession and drove the ball down the field. Ending the third quarter, Coronado led by 20-6.

During halftime, the sophomores won the Homecoming float contest in the parade.

“I was surprised to hear I was prince for the juniors because I’m a misfit and theater kids aren’t popular,” Sam Fagel, junior, said.

The band ended the halftime show and the Cougars ran back out.

During third quarter, the Sundevils couldn’t convert to get a first down. Dequ’an Davis, junior, scored a touchdown for the Cougars. After the PAT, the score was 27-6 Cougars.

Nick Trejo, senior, scored a touchdown, bringing the score to 33-6 after a missed extra point. At the end of the game, Brian Johnson, junior, scored to make the final score  40-6.
