The men’s varsity basketball team won their game against Green Valley High School on Wednesday, Jan. 7 with a final score 72-47.

Within the first few minutes of the game, Travis Boman, junior, made a two point shot, which was quickly followed by senior Nick Kornieck, who also made a two point shot.

With only five minutes left in the quarter, Kornieck went on to shoot a three pointer, and Boman scored another two.

As the minutes ticked down, Kornieck shot another two pointer, and Jake Desjardins, junior, dunked for two more points.

At the end of the first quarter, the Cougars were in the lead with a score of 23-10

The Gators gave the Cougars many opportunities to score free throws, because they kept fouling them.

At halftime, the Cougars were still in the lead with a score of 35-22.

During third quarter, many of the points were made from foul shots. Desjardins made a two pointer, followed by Boman and Andrew Palma, senior, who also scored two points, ending the third quarter with the Cougars holding the lead with a score of 58-33.

“I think that as a team we rebounded pretty well and shot the ball out in third quarter,” Boman said.

With the last quarter starting, the Cougars accumulated several points winning the game 72-47.

“I think that we could have done better defensively in the fourth quarter,” Boman said.
