Coronado’s sports teams will host the Coaches vs. Cancer carnival this Monday, Feb. 9, featuring a barbeque and tented booths including Rent-A-Puppy, Pie in the Face, and Pick on a Teacher.

All the proceeds from the event will be going to the American Cancer Society. Along with the Coronado teams and clubs participating, St. Rose Hospital, Comprehensive Center and the Henderson Chamber of Commerce will be getting involved to raise community support.

“Coaches vs. Cancer is a way for our Coronado community to lend support and funding to research and prevention of Cancer,” Jeff Kaufman, varsity head basketball coach, said.

Last year Coronado raised over $6,000 and was recognized nationally as a leading high school program. This year students have been asked to wear suits or dress with sneakers on Monday to symbolize a commitment to fighting cancer.

There will also be two basketball games against the Foothill Falcons to highlight the event. The girls play at 5 p.m. and the boys at 6:30 p.m.
