The men’s varsity volleyball team crushed the Basic High School Wolves on Thursday, April 8, winning all three sets.

During the first set of the game, Cougars started off strong with senior Karriem Beyah (#15) scoring the majority of points.

Cougars played tough defense blocking the Wolves’ opportunity to score.

Coronado won the first set 25-16.

In the second set, Cougars played hard defense, keeping the opposing team trailing behind.

Beyah continued his kill streak, and senior Matt Johnson (#11) blocked multiple shots to keep the lead and end the second set 25-14.

Cougars started the third set with confidence, but Basic challenged them near the end with a heavy push for points.

The third match ended 25-22, in favor of the Cougars. Coronado took the win over Basic, 3 sets to 0.

“I think we all came together pretty unified as a team and fed off each other’s’ energy, and we were able to beat Basic,” Beyah said.
