The undefeated women’s varsity volleyball team defeated Basic in all three matches, 25-14, 25-9, and 25-17 at home on Monday, Oct. 5.

“Everyone played great today, the only thing I would’ve changed in the game was pressing a block in the second game,” Alyssa Newsom, senior, said.

Nikki Jackson, senior, secured the win with multiple kills against Basic. Kate Hirsch, junior, also had a  save toward the end of the third match against the Wolfpack. The Cougars fought hard all the way into the last game where Basic failed an attack, hitting the ball out of bounds, and securing a win for the Cougars.

“Today was a fantastic game. Not only did we manage to steal a win, but it was a full team effort,” Hirsch said.

Their next home game will be Oct. 13 against Green Valley at 6 p.m. Spectators are encouraged to wear pink to support breast cancer awareness, and the players will wear pink jerseys as part of the “Dig Pink” campaign.

“So far the season has been great. My favorite part was traveling with my team to the Nike Tournament of Champions. However, the highlight game of the season was against Palo Verde,” Nikki Jackson, senior, said.
