A college readiness seminar will take place for juniors and their families on Monday, Feb. 8 at 6:30 p.m. in the theatre. The event is called Junior Jumpstart and will provide valuable information to college-bound and undecided juniors and their parents.

“The presentation is designed to help juniors and their parents plan for college and pick the right path,” Ms. Shapiro, counselor, said.

The seminar will cover an array of topics that juniors may find unclear as they head into the college application process. The counselors will go over preparing for college and testing preparation for the ACT and SAT. College representatives will answer and questions about scholarships, financial aid, and the Western Undergraduate Exchange program.

Students who are planning to attend an in-state college will receive information about what UNLV has to offer. Alfonso Ayala, UNLV admissions adviser, will discuss the different programs available to students.

“We will be talking about how to prepare for college, testing, and college visits. We want to help students choose the right path when it comes to college, and we will answer any questions they have,” Shapiro said.
