It’s that time of year again. Valentine’s Day is coming up, and for all the single ladies out there, it just means another year of sitting alone, re-watching The Notebook as you eat your weight in chocolate. So this February, change that. Valentine’s Day is the perfect day to treat yourself and do all the things you enjoy. From Netflix movies to pampering yourself, remember some reasons being alone on Valentine’s Day is the absolute best.

Without a relationship, you have tons of time to do anything you want on Valentine’s Day. A movie marathon? Perfect. Choose from 50 First Dates, Clueless, or a classic romance like A Walk to Remember, which is the perfect choice if you’re looking for a good cry. With all that extra time, you can also catch up on your favorite shows; it’s your chance to binge watch eight seasons of Gossip Girl or Friends.

Valentine’s Day is one of the best days of the year to treat yourself. That thing you’ve had your eye on lately? Buy it. Who’s stopping you? Not a boyfriend, that’s for sure. You don’t need a man to get you flowers. You can buy your own bouquet Girl. Take a long bath and relish in your freedom. Read your favorite book and remind yourself how great it is to have all this alone time. Paint your nails, shop online, and do things you enjoy because Valentine’s Day is your day.

You can also spend the day with friends. Have a girls’ day with all your B.F.F.s and  take some time for yourselves. You can do everything with your girls, which makes it 10 times better. A girls’ day is so much better than all that kissing and cuddling stuff, right? Bleh. You don’t need a boyfriend when you have all your girlfriends by your side. All the single ladies put your hands up. Jam to your single girl anthems and bake five batches of cookies with your girls right by your side.

Without a boyfriend you don’t have to worry about all the stereotypical couple things you’re “supposed” to do. Forget spending five hours getting ready for a date. Nobody has time for makeup, hair, and an outfit when they’re trying to finish an entire season of Grey’s Anatomy in a day. You don’t even have to think about buying gifts for some boy. The only presents you’ll be buying this Valentine’s day are for- that’s right- you.

Forget that romantic, lovey dovey Valentine’s Day nonsense because this February it’s gonna be Gal-entine’s Day.
