Booming speakers, gross smells, loud screams, and a packed arena full of people who’ve never met before, and yet all have something in common… music.

Concert season isn’t approaching, it’s here. And not everyone is prepared for how to survive this eventful time of year. Concert season is stressful, and there are many steps to take in order to have not only a successful concert year, but to also have the most entertaining and pleasurable concert experience.

Time and time again, people have a bad concert moment and from there on out, the idea of a concert is forever ruined. Whether a drunkie passes out and takes you down with them, or you stand behind a 6’7’ man and stare at the dude’s hairline the entire night, one bad experience can scar someone forever.

Therefore a concert survival guide is a must, and here are the steps to follow in order to survive and thrive this year’s concert season.

No matter what you bring to a concert, what carries your belongings is important. A wise concert goer would recommend to bring a small or mini backpack. Having a wristlet can get in the way during dancing and clapping, while a large purse can be too much to carry. Choose a small satchel or a mini backpack and ladies, do not agree to carry your man’s items because the less weight in your bag, the better.

A concert can last anywhere from two hours to being an entire day’s event. Therefore bring a portable phone charger because you never know if you and your concert bud will get split up in the crowd, and there’s no other way to find them at the end of the night without a cell phone.

If the concert you’re attending is outdoors, water is essential. Bring your own, closed and sealed water from home because paying $8 for a small water bottle in the arena is absurd. Also, being in a small room packed with crowded bodies gets immensely hot, so water is needed to stay hydrated and to ensure a good time at any concert.

Footwear is one of the keys to enjoying a concert. Your shoes can determine your entire night. Flip flops or opened toed shoes are an absolute no, unless you plan on being in the back of the crowd or if you’re at an outdoor, pool or beach concert. Attending a two-hour long show for a girl means heals. Not six inch pumps, but maybe two inch Chelsea boots in order to gain a small advantage and have a clear view of the stage. For a more casual look, cute tennis shoes are the top pick for shoe choice because comfort is essential.

As for hair, anyone with long hair should keep a pony tail holder at hand. It gets hot at any concert, and having hair not only stick to your body, but also to the guy next to you, is the ultimate level of disgust.

Bringing a small amount of cash and your plastic will equal a safe night. If your money is stolen, only around 20 bucks is lost, and your card can be put on lock before any purchases are made.

The most important and crucial part of concert season is to live in the moment, not through the screen of your phone. Take photos and a few videos if you please, but don’t neglect that you’re having a genuine time and making memories. The moment is more important than your Instagram feed or Snapchat story.

Some people are concert addicts while others may never have been. No matter what the case may be, concert season is here and taking the proper steps for this time of year is necessary for any and all concert success.
