They asked and you voted: this year’s prom theme is A Night Around the World.  The dance will take place at the Fabrizio (818 S Main St, Las Vegas) on Saturday, April 16 from 7 to 10 p.m. StuCo is selling tickets in the quad during both lunches for $20 until tomorrow. Tickets will be $30 at the door.

“All upperclassmen are encouraged to take part in this year’s prom because it is easily accessible for someone who wants to do something on The Strip afterwards,” Mrs. Swenson, student council adviser, said.

The DJ at the dance will be Darrell Sherrod, also known as DJ Twin. Student Council will be serving chicken tenders, cannolis, assorted pastries. There will be a chocolate fountain along and an unlimited soft drink bar.

“We started planning the prom as early as the summer trying to find a venue and narrowing down our theme options.  We also have to search for decorations to match the venue,” Mollie Mars, junior, said.

Student’s who want to bring a date from another school are required to fill out a form and obtain a guest pass from the office prior to the dance.

Students can vote for prom king and queen through second lunch tomorrow. Upperclassmen can vote here.  StuCo will announce the prom king and queen at the dance at 8:30 p.m. All nominees are required to attend the dance to be considered for crowning.

The preliminary results from the voting for the boys are seniors: Walker Wright, Rami Khalaf, Justin Barker, Derek Graff, and Isaac Foutz. The girl contenders are seniors: Jialing Li, Bree Skeirik, Samantha Gaxiola, Cameryn Almeido, and Sarah Baron.

“All students should consider going to the dance because it is a great high school experience that no one wants to miss out on. Student Council has put in a lot of work to ensure prom is enjoyable for everyone,”  Samantha Giannantonio, junior, said.
