The staff of The Roar recognizes that all the teachers and staff at Coronado contribute to making this a special place to attend school, but there are a few they would like to thank individually in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week.

I appreciate Mr. Aberman, my AP US History teacher. I really enjoy his lectures, and they are making me the most prepared I can be for the AP exam. Also he has a really good sense of humor that makes his telling of history interesting.

One of my favorite parts of the day is coming to my third period because I always have reasons to smile. Mrs. Thompson’s enthusiasm fills the room everyday, and she inspires so many. One of my favorite things about her is that she dedicates her time so generously to not only her students, but to the website and yearbook. Without “Tom,” Coronado would not be the same. I am grateful to have such a wonderful role model in my life.

Selfie walls, banana suits, and Despicable Me clips; Mr. Stump is one of the teachers that I appreciate the most. He goes out of his way to make learning entertaining, which makes math a whole lot easier for those who are more literature-oriented. My favorite thing about Mr. Stump is the fact that he continues to check in on past students once they’ve already passed his class. At the end of my school year with him, he had past students who were in college talk to his students about the dos and don’ts of your first year at a university which helped ease my mind and made me feel more excited about my future.

-Ryann Heinlen

I appreciate Mrs. Klimas because she always finds a way to make her class fun. She is just like her students and always finds a way to connect with them. She taught me so much in English sophomore year, and she really wants to see her kids pass. Mrs. Klimas comes to work full of energy and doesn’t see it as just a job; she truly loves what she does.

-Karissa Erven

Mr. Odekirk is one of the coolest teachers on campus, I appreciate his music taste and our conversations about Jimi Hendrix. Mr. O saw Hendrix live in concert, and I will forever be jealous. He is a super down to earth teacher who lets his students express themselves through their art work. I appreciate him, his class, his teaching, his music taste, and his ability to connect with his students. “Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens.” – Hendrix. Thank you Mr. O for being such an awesome teacher!

-Kacie Leach

I appreciate Ms. Yeaton because her bubbly, energized personality makes going to English class every day more enjoyable. English for the past two years has been one of my favorite classes. Thank you, Ms. Yeaton, for all that you do.

-Meagan Young

I appreciate Ms. Holyoak because she is always there to help. Whenever I’m struggling with a topic, she never fails to help me through it. She cares so much about her students and will do anything to help them succeed. She does so much for Student Council. She is the adviser for Mu Alpha Theta, and she genuinely cares about our school. Ms. Holyoak, thank you for everything that you do!

-Lauren Smith

I appreciate my chemistry teacher, Mr. Padilla, because of his sense of humor, even when his jokes are very cheesy. He is always available in the mornings to help me when I need it and makes sure I am working my hardest. Thank you, Mr. Padilla, for all the time and patience you put into our class. We are grateful for everything you do!

-Saveria Farino

I appreciate Mrs. Hall, my AP World History teacher, for her exciting yet educational energy. She makes history so interesting and fun and has taught me so much in just a matter of a few months. She has motivated and pushed me, so I can be confident for my AP exam. Thank you for all the time and energy you put in Mrs. Hall. You’re the funniest teacher evaaaaa.

-Regina Dispa

I appreciate having Ms. Cohen as my Spanish teacher because she makes learning a foreign language fun and more understandable. She also gives fun projects (while still learning) that make the whole class laugh. She is a really sweet person and works hard to help anyone who needs it. Thank you Ms. Cohen for being patient and helpful and for all that you do and for having a great sense of humor and being an awesome teacher also.

-Lexi Lane

I appreciate Mrs. Davenport, my English teacher, because she is constantly trying to improve all of her students’ literature skills and scholarly independence. Mrs. Davenport always strives to better her students. She always works extremely hard to maintain organization and keep her students learning. I am very glad you are my English teacher. Thank you, Mrs. Davenport, for teaching me so much about writing!

-Maddie Baker

I really appreciate Mr. Yi’s tolerance and patience for his students. He gives it his all when teaching his classes and always tries to be positive. My favorite part of class is when we learn about current events. I’m often never caught up in the news, but this really opens my eyes to the world around me. Thank you for teaching students everything we need to know about world history, thank you for giving us a one minute break to ease our minds, thank you for the fun games of Jeopardy, and thank you for being a great teacher! I hope you know that you are loved by many students. Even though you didn’t get a letter of appreciation from sixth period, this is way better, right?

-Sara Seibel

I appreciate Mrs. Merritt and her devotion to teaching. She is so passionate about biology and her uplifting teaching style creates a positive attitude that keep her students interested in everything that they learn. This year I have learned many things about biology and I am so grateful for her patience and kindness towards each and every one of her students. Thank you for everything!

-Sage Tippie

I am extremely appreciative towards my amazing biology teacher, Mrs. Jackson. She teaches with a passion and excitement that make a could-be-boring class fun, and she is always ready with a clear explanation for rough concepts. I feel better prepared for quizzes and tests in her class because she makes all the concepts stick with her enthusiastic teaching style. I could never have asked for a greater biology teacher. Thank you, Mrs. Jackson.

-Faith Evans

I appreciate Mr. Bromberg for his tolerance towards his first period class. His fun spin on English makes the class really interesting. He understands that students have a life outside of school and tries to be flexible with everyone’s schedule. This year has been a great introduction into my high school career, and I am looking forward to finishing it with him.

-Rayne Hayes

I appreciate Mrs. Beaudreault because she teaches with passion. She is so kind to each and every student and helps everyone. She doesn’t make algebra feel hopeless or dreadful. Her enthusiasm fills the room when she walks into class. Mrs. Beaudreault can thoroughly explain her lessons with detail and make even trigonometry fun and easy. Even though she is new, she is the best math teacher I have ever had, so thank you, Mrs. Beaudreault, for everything.

-Haley King

Mrs. Cox gains my appreciation everyday. She allows her students to go crazy with their creative minds and test the limits of what they are capable of doing. She is always kind and always interested in what her students have to say. If anyone around her needs support, she is the first in line to offer her shoulder. There is not a day that goes by where Mrs. Cox isn’t smiling. She is the best broadcast teacher Coronado could ask for. Because of her passion for the profession and respect of the craft, she makes Coronado mornings amazing with every broadcast. Thank you for everything you do, Mrs. Cox. You truly are the best Coronado has to offer.
