Student Council’s Music Fest Homecoming Week is Sept. 19-23 with broader themes for spirit days to get more Cougars involved in the fun. StuCo will hand out candy during lunches all week to those who do participate.

On Monday, students are encouraged to dress up in their favorite band t-shirts. During both lunches, there will be games of musical chairs hosted by StuCo.

“I’m definitely most excited about the band t-shirt day because I can express myself and see others who have things in common with me,” Avery Hickam, senior, said.

Tuesday is Fandom Twin Day, so students can dress up and be each other’s twins for a day. At lunch, students can take pictures in front of a Cougar Nation backdrop.

For Stagecougs Western Wednesday, students are invited to dress up in their western gear. There will be a dance party in the quad at lunch with music provided by StuCo.

Students can dance through the decades by dressing up in any era on Thursday, and during lunch, they can challenge their friends to a lip sync battle.

“I’m excited for Dance Through the Decades Day because my favorite topic in history is the decades, and I listen to music from all different decades,” Cierra Sawyer, junior, said.

Students will dress in neon colors on Friday for an electric neon festival theme. StuCo will serve Cougar dogs at lunch. The annual Homecoming Assembly will be from 1:15 to 2:11. StuCo will announce underclassmen and junior Homecoming Court during the assembly.

“I am definitely excited about this year’s Homecoming week,” Amy Kang, sophomore, said. “It may have been hard to plan because Homecoming is so early this year, but our council is doing a great job pulling everything together.”

The Homecoming tailgate outside the football field starts at 5 p.m. with food, music, float voting, and games. The football game against Valley High School starts at 7 p.m. During halftime, the senior Homecoming Court will have their crowning, and all royalty will be in the annual parade. Voting for all grades top five will open Monday and end Thursday (vote here).

The Homecoming Bash with dancing, food, and partying will take place in the quad starting after the game until 11:30 p.m.

“This is our second year of throwing a bash instead of a formal dance so we are able to correct our mistakes from last year and create an even better one this year,” Kang said. “We chose low-risk dress up days, so we can encourage more people to show their cougar spirit.”
