Every student deserves the opportunity to have the perfect prom, so with the help of Project 150 and Zappos, Student Council will host a Prom Dress Drive until March 3.

“We are collaborating with NHS on this drive, and the whole purpose is to provide the Prom Closet organization with enough items, so they are able to help support over 100 students,” Bailey Goto, junior, said

To make prom possible for more than 1,500 teens around the valley, people can donate any goods that contribute to the night. Item can be new or gently used formal dresses, suits, shoes, ties, purses, and accessories. Make-up products, hair irons, shaving kits, and hair accessories are also acceptable donations.

Gift certificates to restaurants, limos, and dry cleaners can also be donated. Some items in critical need are plus-sized attire, men’s formal wear, and men’s belts.

“We want everyone to have a chance to go to prom. With a dress, unused makeup kit, or a restaurant gift card, I can truly impact someone,” Darlyn Magana, junior, said.

Over 2,500 homeless teens are aided by Project 150. The non-profit organization also serves disadvantaged students from more than 51 different high schools in Southern Nevada and 20 schools in Northern Nevada.

“Everyone in this world is equally important, and those in need should be able to experience the things that others get to do and be genuinely happy,” Sydnee Garner, sophomore, said.
