Bowling

Coronado’s bowling team played one final game on Jan. 26 against Clark High School at the Gold Coast Casino. The first two rounds, the schools continued to keep up with each other’s scores. But in the end, Clark took the victory with a score of 2115, while Coronado scored 1950.

Players believe the experience was more important than the game. It was bittersweet to leave that game behind, knowing it would be their last.

“This was our last game of the season, so it meant a lot to all of the team, especially the seniors,” senior Wells Lee said. “We didn’t care so much as to win – of course we wanted to win – but more so bowling the best we could. It was sort of a ‘Look how far we’ve come and grown.’”

Coronado’s bowling team may not have walked away with a victory this time, but they were able to bond over their shared love for the sport one last time.

Women’s Flag Football

On Thursday, Jan. 27, Coronado’s Varsity Flag Football team took on the Green Valley Gators and lost 42-26.

“The pace of the game was very fast and high intensity,” said junior Izabella Lang. “There were multiple moments where we were neck and neck.”

The game versus Green Valley started out neck and neck and was like that for the majority of the game. A match between two equally skilled teams made for an intense show. An offensive change from Green Valley ended up penetrating the Cougars defense. With the offensive plays by Green Valley, it ended up getting the Gators a win.

“We were not connecting this game and it showed in the score. It was individual work instead of collectively working as a team,” said junior Jordyn Tribus (#9). “I have high hopes that our teamwork will improve in the next game.”

Coronado will be facing Bonanza High School at Coronado High School on Wednesday, February 2nd, at 4:30.

On Tuesday Jan. 25, 2022, our mens basketball team fought against the Centennial Bulldogs, but lost with a close score of 80 to 71.

The Cougars started off strong and led the game, by the second quarter Centennial came back and won the game. Despite this loss our team played passionately. Many basketball players thought the game was super beat, and the loss was something they can learn from.

“We were expected to win this game, but unfortunately lost.” senior Jake Grossman (#22) “I’m glad that we now have the opportunity to become better players mentally and physically from this game.”

On Thursday Jan 27, 2022 our mens basketball team crushed Arbor View. The final score was 72 to 53.

The crowd during this game was extremely upbeat and encouraged our players to defeat the Aggies. Our cheerleaders did an amazing job supporting our team while encouraging the crowd. Osiris Grady (#11”  was a key player during the game. .

The team’s next game is “Feb” 2 2022 at Foothill High School. They will be playing the Foothill Falcons.
