Video Games are controversial among parents yet most kids enjoy playing with them; why is that?

Let’s start from the beginning; the first video game was said to be made in October of 1958 by a physicist named William Higginbotham. It was created as a way to entertain people whenever they came over to his exhibits.

What started as something minor eventually became a source of entertainment for people of all ages worldwide. Video games are a way for people to escape from reality, even if it’s just for a few hours. It allows players or “gamers” to be themselves and express themselves however they want.

Video games also have many genres ranging from quirky dress-up games to violent and gory games; there are no limits. So, if you’re considering getting into video games, you have many options.

Because of the internet, video games allow you to play with whoever you want, whether it be your friends or someone from the other side. It’s a great way to make friends or get closer to the ones you already have.

“Video games are fun,” senior Caleb Ryu said. “I got closer with my friends and had a lot of funny moments with them on this one game called Roblox.”

In the news, video games are always depicted as a bad thing that can become addictive and have a terrible influence on kids, but that’s always not the case. Video games give children creative freedom, which is why they like them so much.

Another reason why video games are so popular is because of content creators. Content creators are people who make a living by posting videos or streams of themselves playing different types of video games.

These creators highlight aspects of a game and make them fun for almost everyone to watch. Some popular content creators are Dream, Valkyrie, DisguisedToast, and Pokimane, and they are best known for games such as Minecraft, Among us, Valorant, and many more.

These popular Youtubers have caused games to spike in popularity because of their fan bases and supporters; game developers owe these creators for much of their game’s popularity.
