After one final look back at their team following the dance performance on Friday, April 21, senior Cougarettes dance captains Sara Advent, Constance Hanna, and Ashlyn Peltier held up signs proclaiming their college choices: UNLV, Boise State, and UNR.

“My seniors were the best I could’ve ever asked for. They are the largest part of why this season has been so great and successful,” Coach Emigh said.

The dance recital featured dances from the varsity and JV Cougarettes, as well as special guests Captivation Dance Affiliates and Polynesian Club. All groups had multiple performances showcasing their skills in different genres of dance in addition to solos, duets, and trios choreographed by varsity Cougarettes.

“I like performing because it connects me to my culture and where I’m from. I love getting close with all of the girls and performing with them,” Poly member Sofia Lolana Virden, sophomore, said.

The last performance of the night, “Long Way Home,” started with the seniors performing a trio before the rest of the varsity Cougarettes joined them. The seniors were very emotional as they exited the stage opposite the rest of the team.

Curtain call was the last part of the night, where all of the groups were recognized. Coach Emigh said a few words about the Cougarettes’ winning season. Soon after, the seniors said their last words as Cougarettes.

“This is actually Ms. Emigh’s first year with us, and she has been so great. It’s been a rough few years, but I think we all couldn’t have asked for a better senior year,” Hanna said.
