The annual yearbook signing party will take place on May 22 during first and second periods. As the first signing party to occur during school hours, seniors will have the chance to miss first period, while the rest of the students can miss second period.

To attend the party, students must have purchased a yearbook no later than May 18 and a ticket for entry. Tickets are on sale for $5 before and after school in room 213 and during lunch in the quad.

“The $5 ticket allows students to miss class and spend time with their peers to sign yearbooks, eat food, win prizes, and avoid having to wait in the long lines before school and during lunch to get their yearbooks,” adviser Mrs. Thompson said. “We use the money raised to pay for new equipment like DSLR cameras, transportation to camp in the summer, the banquet, competition fees necessary for submitting the yearbook to Southern Nevada Society of Journalists, Columbia Scholastic Press Association and National Scholastic Press Association, as well as other fees that come up during the year.”

For those who choose not to attend the party, yearbooks will be available for pick up at the storeroom next to the banker’s office before school, during both lunches and after school beginning Tuesday, May 26. Because the books are given out by yearbook students, pick up will close on the first bell for class.

“We try to hand out the books as quickly as possible, but there are always kids who have been waiting in line that we have to turn away because the workers have to go to class. That’s one of the reasons we do the distribution party; it allows us to get the books out to more students at once,” Thompson said.

Online ordering @jostensyearbooks.com will close on Monday, May 18, and sales will freeze until May 26 when the yearbooks will be $100 and available in room 213. Checks cannot be taken from seniors.

After May 29, books can be picked up in room 215 before school and after exams.
