Mockingjay: Part 1 gives an exciting preview to the final installment of The Hunger Games trilogy. The action-packed film will leave the audience on the edge of their seats, with plenty of plot twists and electrifying scenes.
Francis Lawrence, the director of all of the Hunger Games films, does an exemplary job of portraying the artistic and dramatic aspects of the book. Particularly, in the scenes between Katniss and her star-crossed lover, Peeta. The director also chose the perfect cast to bring out the complex personalities of the characters. Everyone will take notice of the actors’ expertise. Academy Award winning actress, Jennifer Lawrence, once again impresses the audience, perfectly filling the ambitious role of Katniss Everdeen- “the girl on fire”.
The film gives insight into the lives of the victors after escaping the games. Now in the care of District 13, Katniss hesitantly becomes a symbol, the mockingjay, of a mass rebellion against the capitol in Panem. With guidance from new and old friends, Katniss fights to save an entire nation, while trying to keep her loved ones alive.
Lorde put together the film soundtrack, and features an array of songs from different artists including Charli XCX, Tove Lo, and The Chemical Brothers. The movie also includes a surprisingly wonderful rendition of “Hanging Tree” sung by Jennifer Lawrence. The songs in the album were just as exciting as the movie itself. With a diverse group of genres, the soundtrack perfectly amplified the movie’s importance in today’s pop culture.
This is a well-written movie with outstanding cinematography. Everyone involved in the production of this motion picture should be proud. With cliffhangers and action at every turn, this film is perfect for anyone who is looking for that extra edge, a movie that will leave you biting your nails in suspense.
