With the school year coming to a close, students and teachers alike are becoming nostalgic. Sometimes it is the day-to-day that brings the fondest memories; other times, it is past victories, school dances, and assemblies that pull themselves to the forefront of everyone’s minds.

“High school is four years of your life that you will never forget,” Denee Kong, senior, said. “You come into yourself and experience events that you can’t find anywhere else.”

Kong is one of just under 600 seniors about to leave high school in the rear-view mirror at the annual graduation ceremony in June. While looking to the future, Kong reminisces on experiences she’s had throughout her past four years of school.

“I’d have to say that I will always remember my trip to Manhattan with my theatre class the most. I became close friends with so many people, and I got to see my first Broadway musical,” Kong said.

Students didn’t have to fly over 2,000 miles to forge memories that will last a lifetime; others will remember what happened during school and some are more recent than others.

“Even though it’s not my memory, I will never forget the look on my best friend’s face when she finished her final orchestra concert,” Alex Hird, senior, said. “She was so happy.”

To some it is the fairy tale moment of dancing with the one they love at prom; to others it’s the feelings on and off the field that will remain the most memorable.

“I think most of all I’m going to miss playing under the ‘Friday Night Lights,’” senior Beau Edwards, varsity football player, said. “I’ll miss the excitement and energy of the crowd and the camaraderie between my teammates no matter the outcome.”

Seniors, especially, had a lot to look forward to in the past couple of weeks. Seniors took over Disneyland on Friday, May 20, to celebrate the annual Grad Nite. Teachers celebrated the class of 2016 during the senior assembly on May 24. Student council closed out the school year at the senior barbecue and sunset the evening of May 25 following the mandatory graduation rehearsal and annual grad walk.

Although the school year has come to a close, the chances to make worthwhile memories are limitless.
