Don’t give up all hope and immediately turn on “The Notebook” while scarfing down whatever is left of your now melted seventh pint of Haagen-Dazs. Grab a makeup wipe and remove your crusty mascara stained tears away. Hike up your mom jeans, lace up your brand new Doc Martens, and go get your date. It’s Sadies season: when the girl asks the guy. Although asking a guy to Sadies can seem stressful and impossible for a girl in high school, you can do it. It’s your time to pop off and live up to your potential.

First things first: you need to put those artistic abilities to work; ask your date to Sadies with a cute pun on a cuter poster. Grab your pastels, paints, crayons, markers and anything that is artistically available to you because you need to make that poster the best one ever. Create a poster that is so breathtaking, he won’t be able to say “no.” Take your time because all the stress will be worth it– anything to finesse a man even if it’s for one day. No one knows where Sadies could lead you.

Once you have put in all your time and effort to create the “punniest” masterpiece for your potential date, think of the perfect time to ask. Is it before school, after school, at lunch or at his house? Weigh your options. If it’s at his house, it will be less intimidating without all you peers’ eyes on you. However, if you do it at school, everyone will be able to see your hard work. There are endless options, but remember that you are a queen that needs to show off her creation, so make sure at least someone is around to take cute pictures of that special moment.

When asking day rolls around, make sure you look like an absolute snack because all of his attention will be on you. Whether you take the simple approach or go all out, the most important thing is that you are feeling confident and ready to conquer the task at hand. It doesn’t matter if your empowering outfit consists of ripped jeans and a cute top or a simple dress; you need to work it. Strut into school with your poster, and stand tall with determination in your eyes. Be positive. He’d be stupid to say “no.”

Before you let your nerves get the best of you in the moment, simply remember a few things. You are the best girl to date. You had the courage to get out of the comfort of your bed and tear your eyes away from those romance dramas. You are open to love, and that’s more than most people can say. Anybody who is worth your time will realize that asking someone to Sadies requires great bravery, and you have that. This is your time to shine, and absolutely no one can take that from you. You are powerful. Now, go get that mans.
