Walking down Casino Center Boulevard, you hear the music of rock bands, acoustic guitarists, and DJs. You did not eat beforehand so you feast on food from one of the many unique food trucks, such as Engine1Pizza. While eating your travel friendly pizza, you stroll into the local artists’ galleries and stores. Welcome to First Friday, a community experience where live music, visual and performing arts, food, and people fill Downtown Las Vegas.

The monthly event equips local artists with an opportunity to share their work, sell their work, and make a living. Many Vegas artists’ successes originated at First Friday and many others rely on the monthly function.

Senior Andrew Choudhry works for the company Electrospheres, which specializes in selling customizable handmade lights.

“First Friday offers the community a way to showcase their local artists. Also, the atmosphere is very energetic and allows everyone to feel welcome,” Choudhry said.

First Friday offers a fun-filled activity for you and your friends or family, and because First Friday exhibits different attractions each month, it is never the same event.

May 2 is the next First Friday and will feature music from DJ treL, Josh LaCount, Jill & Julia, and many more; will host culinary stands and trucks like Sin City Wings, The Hummus Factory, and Funnel Cake Café; and will display galleries for many Vegas artists, such as Stale Face, Ninjabot, and Max Hague Photography.

The organization First Friday Las Vegas, which is responsible for hosting the monthly arts festival, will celebrate its 10 year anniversary in October.

You will simply have to go to find out what all the rage is about.
