The annual Powder Puff football game went down on Wednesday, March 25. Juniors and seniors went head to head in competition for The Make a Wish Foundation. The roles were switched as there were female football players and male cheerleaders.

“I loved it. I’ve been playing flag football for a really long time so this was a really good opportunity to play. I for sure would do it next year. We definitely supported each other,”  quarterback Heaven Lucero, junior, said.

Juniors got the kick off because they collected the most money throughout the day for charity.  The seniors pushed through the juniors’ line of defense and were able to pull the quarterback’s flag before she could throw the ball.

Seniors got the turnover and were able to score a touchdown shortly after, making the score 7-0.

Juniors took over after the seniors scored, but the seniors quickly intercepted and ran the ball for another touchdown.

During the third down for the juniors, the seniors intercepted the ball and ran to get a touchdown ending the first half at 28-0.

At the start of the second half, seniors started with the ball, but it was quickly overturned by the juniors.

Juniors scored a touchdown shortly after the turnover, pushing the score to 28-7.

With only 16 minutes left in the game, the juniors intercepted a pass and scored another touchdown as a last effort to win, but were still 14 points behind the seniors.

Nearing the final minutes of the game, the seniors scored one more touchdown. The game ended 34-14, seniors.

“Powder Puff was a lot of fun because there were different girls from different groups of the school. We worked really well together, and I think all the girls had a positive attitude,” Keely Eshenbaugh, senior, said.

Technically this was a repeat win since, as juniors, the class of 2015 won last year’s game as well.
