The men’s varsity soccer team dominated the Las Vegas Wildcats 3-1 in their first home game on Tuesday, Sept. 13.
“I feel like it was a great game for us. We went down 1-0 pretty early; however, no one put their heads down, and we kept playing and came out with a 3-1 victory. On top of that, we had some really good team effort, and as a team we all won,” John Lynam, junior, said.
In the first few minutes of the game, the Wildcats scored a goal, but due to a foul in the penalty area, Lynam took a penalty and scored, ending the first half of the game in a tie.
“This game was hard, and it really showed our sportsmanship on the field. We showed good spirit and composure since we came back from a 1-0 score to winning the game,” Patrick Komanowski, junior, said.
During the second half, the Cougars dominated the field with offensive plays. Preston Judd, co-senior captain, scored, putting the Cougars one step ahead. Towards the end of the game, Lynam scored with a second penalty kick following another wildcat foul ensuring a win.
“I felt it was a strong game, and we were able to score some goals. It sucks that we weren’t able to keep the clean sheet, but it was a great game and win for the team. We all gave it our all,” Harrison Skinner, senior, said.
