Education systems are different all around the world, but students don’t always get the chance to experience other country’s learning methods. Recently, 31 Bejing students had the chance to experience three different educational systems, including Clark County’s.

They shadowed student council members throughout the week and experienced how Coronado.  Mr. Piccininni was able to get in contact with the principal at the school in China to allow the students to attend Coronado for a week.

The students stayed at the Green Valley Ranch Hotel from October 28 through November 1. Not only did they go to classes, but they attended sporting events as well.

“It was such a great experience to have them shadow us throughout the week. I was able to learn the different customs that they had in China. We aren’t that different,” Samantha Green, junior, said.

Not many of the students spoke English, so in order to communicate with each other Stuco, had to use Google translator.

In China students attend school for ten hours a day, which is four more hours than the average school day in America.

“I think that the United States should emulate China’s education ideals because we are lacking in a lot of different aspects that China is soaring in. It would make a huge difference if we started looking at school as if it was the most important thing we do,” Tiare Giron, senior, said.

China and America united for a week to experience the differences between both cultures and priority in academics. Even though they are thousands of miles apart, the Chinese students and American students were able connect.
