The women’s varsity soccer team was victorious with their 11-0 win over Basic High School on Wednesday, Oct. 1.

Starting off in the first half, the Cougars scored three goals against Basic’s zero.

“They really deserve the win because of how hard they practice and how often they practice their footwork and technique,” Alicia Howard, sophomore, said.

About five minutes before the clock timed out, sophomore Michaela Morris stole the ball from the Basic Wolves and passed it to sophomore Olivia Meza to score, putting them at a 5-0 lead.

During the second half, the Cougars got a head start by scoring another two goals in the first 10 minutes.

Near the end of the half, Basic stole the ball from the Cougars and kicked it towards the goal, but the goalie, sophomore Rachel Morris, caught the ball and drop-kicked it resulting in another goal for the Cougars and closing out the game with an 11-0 win.

“I feel like, as a team, we played really well today because it was all teamwork and not just individuals,” Morris said.
