In their first home game of the season, the varsity men’s basketball team took the win against the Bonanza Bengals with a score of 68-40.

In the first quarter, the Cougars started strong with 23 points, the highest scoring quarter, while the Bengals trailed behind by nearly half the score.

Cougars maintained the lead in the second quarter, keeping the margin between scores at a solid 14 point difference.

A large crowd cheered on the boys as they returned from halftime, scoring 17 points in the third quarter alone. Bengals showed no signs of a comeback, scoring only 15 points.

Practically shutting out the Bengals in the final quarter, Cougars scored 15 points while Bengals managed 3 points for the entirety of the quarter.

“We did so well because we played hard and we didn’t miss any layups,” Jake DesJardins, junior, said.

The leading scorers of the game were Travis Boman, junior, with 15 points and Nick Kornieck, junior, with 14 points.
