Blue and red. That’s what many returning students noticed as they returned to school following the 10-week summer break; the campus was repainted the last month of summer to begin the school year with a fresh look.

According to Mr. Piccinini, principal, the procedures leading up to the actual painting of the school included saving the funds to repaint, receiving district approval, and bringing in several companies to review their different time and cost estimates in a method known as the bidding process.

Students were pleased with the look which now sports the school’s colors.

“It really shows that the school is hip [and] fresh,” Sophia Rumar, freshman, said.

Allpro Painters, the company hired to paint the school, began on July 23 and completed the initial painting on Sept. 4, after the school year had commenced. Mr. Piccininni had them target high traffic areas to be completed prior to the onset of school, and lower traffic areas were finished during the first two weeks.

While many agreed that the fresh coat of Sherwin-Williams paint which covered doors, stairs, rails and the underside of the shade structures was a great start to a new year, others didn’t even notice the change.

“I didn’t notice the school had been painted until I came back the second day. I think it’s because the red and blue colors just fit the school,” Seth Murawsky, junior, said.

Overall, the up-to-date appearance of the school was well accepted by the student body.

“I think it’s really pretty, and it looks really new and nice,” Hannah Thomton, junior, said.

Allpro will be returning over Nevada Day weekend to paint the light poles, exterior second floor windows, top side of the shade structures, and to touch up areas needing attention now that the paint has cured.
