Coronado, along with four other schools from the state of Nevada, was accredited for its outstanding music programs and has been named one of the 2016 GRAMMY Signature Schools semifinalists.

“It is really wonderful to have made it to the semi-finalists. I think what made us really get noticed is just what we do at our school, just like we do with academics, just like we do with sports. It’s all about commitment to excellence and working hard to achieve what we achieve,” Mr. Fleischer, choral director, said.

Only 100 high schools are recognized by the Grammy Foundation for making an outstanding commitment to music education during an academic school year. Each GRAMMY Signature Schools finalist will receive a custom award and monetary grant ranging from $1,000 to $6,000 to benefit their music programs.

“I feel incredibly proud to be apart of the music program. All of the teachers in the music department work extremely hard and go above and beyond to make every performance we do outstanding,” Amy Levanduski, senior, said.

The GRAMMY Foundation began this program in 1998 with the financial support of the Ford Motor Company Fund.

The Foundation will announce the finalists for the GRAMMY Signature Schools program in March of 2016.
