The class of 2016 gathered in the gymnasium during fourth period for an informational meeting about all the upcoming events and graduation information for the rest of the school year on Thursday, Jan 21.

“I thought it was nice to learn about all the senior opportunities they offer us. I’m definitely excited to graduate, but sad that my childhood is coming to an end,” Meghan Loy, senior, said.

A Herff Jones representative, Lane Larsen, talked about all the gear seniors could purchase and the fairly new, custom graduation gowns. When Mr. Piccininni came to Coronado in 2014, he and Larsen sat down and designed a whole new look for the gowns to represent more of what Coronado has to offer.

“[The gowns] seemed more fresh and lively than the old ones, it’ll help us stand out from past graduates,” Grayson Depaulis, senior, said.

The announcement design was also revealed to the class. It was designed by the graduation committee, a group of six seniors in student council, and won several awards already this year. The announcement placed in the top three in the nation and is shown at Herff Jones’ presentations all over the country.

StuCo also held a meeting for the parents, giving them a chance to get information and pick up a packet with the order forms for graduation robes, caps, and other items. There are five different packages for the parents to choose from starting as low as $100.

“I’m really excited for Grad Nite at Disneyland, it’s a great way to end the year with friends and be able to say our goodbyes to our lower classmen friends,” Imani Williams, senior, said.

For seniors interested in attending Grad Nite, there will be mandatory meetings next week, Jan. 25-27 before and after school. A timeline of the senior events for the rest of the year can be found on the school website.
