The 2016-2017 annual Student Council elections took place Wednesday, Feb. 24 through Friday, Feb. 26. Student voted by using tallyspace.com.

All students, except for seniors, were eligible to vote online. Voting polls were closed on Friday, Feb. 26 after second lunch, and Student Council emailed candidates with election results at 3:30 p.m.

Potential officers displayed posters and banners in the hallways and the quad, and campaigned during both lunches trying to win the vote of the student body.

“I couldn’t believe it. After you work so hard for something and you reach it, it’s just the best reward ever. My opponent and I both worked really hard during election week, and I’m so glad that we both always had such great sportsmanship,” Darlyn Magana, elected Vice President for the class of 2018, said.

Student representatives must be committed to the elected position and work hard to reach the common goals set for the council which promote student and faculty spirit and unity throughout the year.

“Everyone counts and everything matters. [Class officers] will try their best to make everyone matter,” Amy Kang, elected class President of 2019, said.
