The annual winter spirit week will skate in decked with boughs of holly on Monday, Dec. 12-16. The days leading up to the break for the holidays will be filled with seasonal festivities and dress-up days.

“I definitely plan on participating. Spirit week is such a good thing because it brings the school together,” Christian Fewer, senior, said.

Cozy up in pjs and slippers for Monday’s dress up day. Try not to fall asleep while drinking free hot chocolate and “carol-oke” singing in the quad at lunch. Tuesday is “Whoville” day, when all classes can dress like their favorite holiday movie character. Holiday character trivia will occur during both lunches that day.

“I think spirit week will be super fun and all the activities they have planned look exciting,” Cierra Sawyer, junior, said.

On Wednesday, bundle up in extreme winter wear and have a snowball fight with free powdered donut holes. Hang ornaments and tinsel on a comfortable sweater for Thursday’s tacky sweater day. There will be an ugly sweater contest at both lunches. Winners will receive small prizes.

“I’m most looking forward to ugly sweater day! I have the best sweater; it has a cat with crazy eyes wrapped in Christmas lights!” Sommer Jones, sophomore, said.

For the last day of winter spirit week, upperclassmen wear red and underclassmen wear white, creating a human candy cane. At both lunches, free candy canes and hot dogs will be available.

These dress up days leading into winter break get the student body into the festive spirit. School resumes on Tuesday, Jan. 3 and semester exams start on Wednesday, Jan. 18.
