With Homecoming quickly approaching, Cougars voted for their top five for their class this week. Voting ended Thursday, Oct. 5 after second lunch, and StuCo announced nominees shortly after school on Twitter.

Senior court includes Alexa Buttars, Sydney McDermott, Bonnie Stewart, Haley Tyrell, and Bianca Weyers in the running for homecoming queen while Max Abe, Bailey Goto, Edwin Hanna, Jake McLean, and Nolan Phan are in the running for homecoming king. All grades can vote for their next king and queen starting Wednesday, Oct. 18 until Wednesday, Oct. 25.

“I’m excited to see who pairs up with each other next week because of the diverse set of people on senior homecoming court,” Nicole Cabanlong, senior, said.

The juniors nominated Alex Mondi, Dillon Stewart, Trent Tondryk, Alex White, and Chancellor Williams for prince, and Alysa Caso, Kennedy Judd, Amy Kang, Reagan Raimer, and Julianna Viscardo for princess.

“I’m hyped for homecoming because I have a couple friends on court, and it would be cool to see them win. I also really like the environment of homecoming week because everyone is just having fun even if we’re making fools of ourselves,” Alli Harper, junior, said.

Potential dukes Thomas Dougherty, Wilson Scow, Michael Stella, Bryce Tondryk, Nick Walters and duchesses Taylor Burton, Daniela Grgas, Mia Kaufman, Carli Meinert, and Claire Rawlings are the sophomore nominees.

Freshman nominees includes Cody Allen, Daniel Allen, Gavin Evenden, Andrew Marshall, Robert Sutton for lord, and Tabitha Burton, Samantha Haycox, Simone Hottentot, Carly King, and Olivia Ship for lady.

Voting for underclassmen voting will take place Monday, Oct. 9 until Thursday, Oct. 12. Homecoming week will start Friday, Oct. 20 and run until Thursday, Oct. 26. The Homecoming Bash and football game will be Thursday, Oct. 26.

“I am looking forward to the festivities and activities during lunch because they really unite the students and offer a fun incentive to show school spirit,” Steven Gutterman, sophomore, said.

This year the ballot for homecoming nominees was based off of teacher nominations unlike previous years where the entire school was on the list.
