Memories can eventually fade away, but a yearbook lasts forever. Having that book to look at five, 10 or even 20 years from now and being able to read the sentiments written from friends is something special only a yearbook can offer.

From working before school, after school, and at lunch to coming in on Saturdays for work days, a lot of dedication goes into this book of memories from both the staff and editors.

“Making a yearbook takes a lot of hard work, and a team to make it work,” junior Vanessa Tsai, yearbook staffer, said.

The yearbook staff works hard to keep the theme a surprise, but this year it was revealed early. The theme is Follow Us and each page features a series of “connections” at the top that follows students through their associations to each other.

“Connections are our way to get as many people in the book as possible. It shows how we are all inter-connected, and it brings the student body together,” senior Michael Schwob, yearbook manager, said.

Pre ordering online guarantees a student a yearbook. The cost is currently $85 and can be bought online at www.jostens.com. Prices go up Feb. 13 to $95.  A limited number of books are ordered, so if the books do not sell out, students can purchase them at the annual signing party on Mon., May 16 at 8 a.m. in the cafeteria. At that point, the books are $100.

Perks of going to the yearbook party include: getting a yearbook early, missing class (seniors first period; everyone else second period) winning raffle prizes and eating food while signing friends’ books before the year comes to an end. Tickets for the yearbook signing party will be $3 and staffers will begin selling them in April.

Yearbooks can be personalized with the name and icons on the cover; however, these options cannot be purchased at the party. The last day to put in a personalized order online is Feb. 13.

For those not attending the annual yearbook signing party, books can be picked up and purchased next to the banker’s office starting Wednesday, May 18 before or after school and during lunch; however, there will be lines, and the doors close on the bell to allow workers to go to class.
