Women’s Soccer

With their undefeated season still going strong, women’s varsity soccer beat Green Valley 2-1 on Monday, Oct. 16 and Foothill 5-0 on Wednesday, Oct. 18.

“At the practices before games we usually have a team talk and run through our plays and strategies. We always put what we do in practice into the game,” Taylor Burton, sophomore, said.

JV took down Green Valley 3-0 on Monday, Oct. 16, and they were beaten by Foothill 0-1 on Wednesday, Oct. 18. The freshman team continued their winning streak throughout the week  beating Green Valley 2-0 on Tuesday, Oct.16, Foothill 3-1 on Thursday, Oct. 19, and Centennial 6-0 on Friday, Oct. 20.

Cross Country

At the Southeast League Finals on Saturday, Oct. 23, varsity boys and girls took first place with 20 points and 30 points.

In the varsity boys’ race, Tom Dougherty, sophomore, took second place finishing at 16:50. Tim Conaway, senior, followed in third 17:10. Sophomore Eddie Smissen finished in fourth at 17:13.

“Getting first in this race was a great thing for our team because it gives us more confidence in our abilities as the region and state meets approach,” Nathan Collins, senior, said.

In the varsity girls’ race, Claire Rawlins, sophomore, took second place finishing 19:29. Caitlin Shannon, junior, followed in fourth 20:02. Earning the Cougars more points, Ellen Wise, sophomore took fifth finishing 20:34.

The Sunrise Region meet is Saturday, Oct. 26 at Veteran’s Memorial p\Park.
