The Coronado men’s volleyball team took on their first official game of the preseason. After competing in a preseason tournament, Las Vegas invitational, the Cougars were beyond ecstatic to play their first game. They went into the game feeling confident from their championship win in the tournament.

“It felt great to play again with a very special team that has a lot of talent this year,” senior Bryson Yamada (#5) said. “I think the win was definitely something we had thought was going to happen and we actually played well.”

The Cougars started their opening set with a 25-19 win. They played hard and continued to motivate each other all the way through the end. Although the Skyhawks put up a fight, they were no match for the cougars.

“It was great to play against a team that was pretty good,” Yamada said. “They played smart, but we just played better with making the right plays, decisions, and spiking harder.”

With a winning set under their belts, the Cougars needed to keep up their energy and focus in order to master the next two sets. After various rallies and several opposing points, the Cougars came together and established a plan of action. With their teamwork and dedication to perform, the Cougars men’s volleyball team became victorious with a 3-0 match.

“There were some issues with communication at times because it is still very early in the year and everyone is just trying to get to know each other, but it should be a very fun year and hopefully we can get more wins,” Yamada said.

Come support your Cougars on their next home game on Friday the 10th @ 5:30pm.
