Mix 94.1 celebrated their 20th anniversary of music and food festival, Bite of Las Vegas, this weekend at Desert Breeze Park. It featured live music, local vendors, and activities for kids.

To start off the day, Naked Elephant, Almost Normal, Olivia Holt, and Purple Reign, a Prince cover band, all performed sets. While on the live radio station, the radio hosts at Mix interviewed musicians from all the bands.

Griddle Cakes served their churro French toast, a sugary treat that became a little overpowering with all the extra coating on the bottom. Their tasty loaded fries were fried with bacon, cheese, and topped with sour cream.

Blue October performed next with some of their classics like “Hate Me.” They also played songs off their new album “Home,” including a radio favorite, “Home,” the title song of the album.

Exclusive Chefs, who only had one item on their menu, served their pulled pork sandwich. It was topped with cheese, bacon, and onions and came with corn on the cob and a large jalapeno. Although it was good, there were too many onions.

Daughtry, who has performed at multiple Bite of Las Vegas events, came on stage just as the sun started to set. They did an acoustic set with older songs like “Over You” and some off their new album, like the song “Torches.” The big highlight of the performance was when Daughtry, the lead singer, covered Rihanna’s song “Diamonds,” which got the crowd cheering.

The Funnel Cake Cafe is always a huge hit at local events around the valley, and Saturday was no different. They had a constant line forming outside their truck. Their caramel-topped funnel cake was fantastic.

Better than Ezra took the stage next where they performed fan favorite songs like “Good” and “Desperately Wanting.” They also did multiple covers like “Santeria” by Sublime.

Ben and Jerry’s, unfortunately ran out of their chocolate fudge brownie ice cream, although their regular chocolate ice cream always hits the spot.

Fitz and the Tantrums were the last performers after a small mishap with the power going out on the stage. They performed older and current hit songs, including “Out of My League” and “HandClap.”

Throughout the entire day, there were small activities for the little ones, including a ferris wheel and a trampoline to keep the kids entertained.

Overall it was a great, family-fun experience with food for every platte and entertainment well worth the ticket price.
