Women’s Volleyball

In playoff action, women’s varsity volleyball defeated the Foothill Falcons three sets to none, on Thursday, Nov. 2. They then smashed Silverado 3-0 to become the Sunrise 4A Regional Champions.

“We are really excited for the game, we have a really good chance this year,” Madison Karcich, senior, said.

They will face the undetermined Sunset Regional Champions at Faith Lutheran on Friday, Nov. 10.

Cross Country

In the class 4A State Meet at Reed High School, on Saturday, Nov. 4, women’s varsity cross country took third with 90 points, and varsity men’s took seventh with 148 points.

In the varsity women’s race, Claire Rawlins, sophomore, took fourth overall finishing 20:23. Following in with a 21:11 finish was Caitlin Shannon, junior, and Ellen Wise, sophomore, with 21:36.

“This season was amazing and getting third was such a great end to it. To go to state and earn a top three spot was such a gratifying moment as it showed how all our hard work paid off,” Rawlins said.

In the varsity men’s race, Tom Dougherty, sophomore, led the Cougars in twelfth place, overall finishing 17:32.

This state meet concludes the cross country season for the Cougars.

Women’s Soccer

Women’s varsity defeated Valley 8-0 in the first round of the postseason, on Wednesday, Nov. 1 and advanced to their next playoff game.

“The win felt great and gave us a boost of confidence for the upcoming games. For the next playoff game, we are preparing by getting lots of rest tonight and staying relaxed and focused tomorrow,” Makenna Curcuru, senior, said.

They beat Foothill 5-4 on Friday, Nov. 3, but lost to the Gators in the finals game 2-0 on Saturday, Nov. 4.
