Men’s Varsity Soccer

Men’s varsity soccer defeated Spring Valley 3-0 in an away game on Monday, Oct. 7. Seniors Lincoln Aquino and Andreas Amirkhanian lead the Cougs to victory each scoring a goal. Junior Javier Vazquez-Estrada also scored a goal for the Cougars to secure the win.

“With state coming up the team has been preparing even harder, we’ve been working on finishing and passing plays to build out of the defense better,” junior Ryan Wilkinson said. “The better we can pass to our forwards the more chances we will have to score.”

In the second game of the week the Cougars lost 0-1 to the Green Valley Gators in an away game on Friday, Oct. 11. The Cougars are 6-1-1 in league and play again today at home against Desert Oasis at 3 p.m.

Women’s Varsity Soccer

Women’s varsity soccer tied 1-1 against the Green Valley Gators in a home game on Thursday, Oct. 10. Senior Rebecca Orozco scored a goal in the first half but the Cougars were not able to hold the lead as the Gators came back in the second half. 

“We are training hard at every practice and preparing for every possible outcome,” junior Carly Gustafson. “We set a goal for each game and try our best to achieve it. This helps us set our sights on bigger achievements like winning state. Individually I am working on taking more outside shots.”

The Cougars are 6-0-1 in league and play again in an away game today against Desert Oasis at 3 p.m.
